a marriage proposal is really a sort of indecent proposal too,
no ? ... I mean, it's really a license to have sex and try to make
kids, no ? ... 
nope.. it is a statement to the world that you commit yourselves
to each other..
the wedding vows are there:
to have and to hold, in sickness and in health..
